my history (part one)

I always remember liking Lego as a child. I can recall vividly stepping on a 105 grey tile corner piece, at the time a rarity in my collection, and breaking it, crying a lot over it. (I still have one of the two parts- it works a little bit as a corner).

I also recall my attempt at an X-wing (not very good, as it happens) which I balanced over my bedside lamp, which unfortunately melted a grey 2x3 plate (also rare), something that upset me quite a lot, and my dad making me a Batmobile out of Lego when I was very young. [Picture coming soon!]

When the time came to put away all childish things, I was quite slow about it. I really wanted a 6990 monorail, but settled for a 6932 starship (selling my Big Trak to pay for it). This was in 1987, and with the exception of the 8865 test car next year, and a consolation box of Futuron/Blacktron minifigs, that was it for buying Lego.

However, I did leave my sets constructed, and could never face selling them, so with the exception of some sunburn (I was stupid enough to leave them in the sun for a couple of summers) I still have all the bricks from then.
