my history (part two) I never picked up Lego again, except for a brief look at a Lego catalogue in 1994, until my then friend, now NLSO, Claire, gave me the 6854 Highland Chieftan as a birthday present in 1997. I soon picked up the old habit, picking up a couple of small sets before buying the Saturn 3 Starship on sale. This marks the end of my 'Dark Ages'- my time of not buying Lego. (I think Microserfs deserves a[nother] mention here- I read it in Autumn '96, just after starting my new geek job, and it really made me remember Lego. I've since discovered that at least two of my workmates had Lego collections but lost them after leaving home. One is scared to leave his Dark Ages simply because of the cost, but that's another beef.) I didn't buy all of the sets in that theme, though, [at least not then- I did finish later] and wasn't truly bitten, but when I saw about Mindstorms I had to have one, and duly bought a RIS set late in 1998. (I've not really made the most of it- the RCX needs at least 4 power outputs to be useful, I reckon- but I'm planning on expanding it when I unite it with my pre-Dark Ages Technic sets.) | ||
